3 Reasons NOT To Change Your Commercial HVAC Filter Yourself

HVAC_Ventilation_ExhaustChanging an HVAC filter on your commercial system is easy enough to do on your own, right?  Well, sure, but it may not actually be the best way to save a buck.  Here are three reasons why you should leave changing a commercial filter to the pros:

•   It involves gaskets and brackets: Commercial HVAC filters can involve gaskets or brackets used to properly secure the filter. They can be difficult to reach or hard to secure, but if they aren’t used properly with your air filter, your heating and cooling system can suffer from inefficiency or more breakdowns than usual.

•   The filter is important: Exactly what filter you use is so important to commercial systems. It needs to be the right type, the right size and the right MERV rating. MERV ratings, particularly, matter more in commercial systems. Your commercial HVAC system has been fine tuned to run with a particular MERV rating filter. Installing the wrong one can be a problem for your system.

•   Your system may need more than an air filter: You may want to change the air filter yourself to avoid an unnecessary maintenance visit. But the truth is that a routine maintenance check, which includes changing the air filter, can help prevent breakdowns that wouldn’t be caught without the discerning eye of an HVAC technician, saving you the price of a costly emergency repair.

If you’re tempted to change that filter, think again! Pick up the phone to call your local HVAC company today!
